Northstar commuter rail will provide the most efficient and
cost-effective transportation alternative for the Northstar Corridor.
The first phase of Northstar will operate on the existing 40
miles of BNSF Railway track between Big Lake and downtown Minneapolis.
When Northstar is scheduled to open in early 2009, it will serve
an estimated 5,070 daily riders, boarding at stations in Big
Lake, Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids, Fridley and Minneapolis.
With connections to Hiawatha Light Rail Transit, and other transit
at the downtown Minneapolis station, Northstar offers Minnesotans
from across the region a reliable, fast and safe transportation
alternative.
